Projects
Lost Hills Air Monitoring and Emissions Reduction Project

This project focuses on identifying and evaluating air pollutants impacting the community of Lost Hills using a network of sensors that can continuously detect levels of ozone, nitrogen dioxide, particulate matter (2.5 and 10), methane, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The Lost Hills community is located adjacent to the Lost Hills Oilfield, a major source of hazardous air pollutants with over 5,200 active oil and gas wells.  It is also located directly next to large orchards and to the west of Interstate 5, a major transportation corridor and host of mobile sources of air pollutants from vehicle emissions. An objective of this project is to reduce public exposure to hazardous air pollutants by developing a website to display real-time data of pollutant detections.
